Oil paintings in Dietro Aria technique

See below three current paintings I am working on - in Dietro Aria technique. I think you already read this "Dietro Aria" now a few times on my site and ask yourself what it means actually. I will discover a few information about this: I was also working on a reproduction of The Lady with the Ermine from Leonardo da Vinci. I was working on this painting including the research I made about almost 2 years. I have been in Krakau of corse to see the original. The goal of this project is to make not only a replica - no it goes more further. I will be the painting as near as possible to the originally, but not how it looks like now, but how it looked like in 1500 when it was fresh painted.

But what has this all to do with Dietro Aria?, you may ask yourself. Well, I am sure as a real art lover you know about the sfumato technique from Leonardo. Sfumato means something like foggy or blurred, hazy.

In the course of my research on the painting of Leonardo da Vinci's The Lady with the Ermine, and above all in the very time-consuming work on this painting, which is made up of very many individual thin layers, I have learned a great deal about painting that goes beyond the Old Master technique. And only now I have realy understood the true genius of Leonardo`s painting technique, because I have applied the technique myself.

In the course of this I have started to develop the technique of Leonardo, as far as this is possible at all, and the original idea of Leonardo da Vinci, namely that there is a layer of air between the object and the viewer, which influences the picture and the picture impression, further developed. This technique, which I have now newly developed, and which is applied with my own secret oil mixture, has "painted layers of air" between the individual layers of paint, so that a unique effect is achieved.  I call this technique "Behind Air" or in recognition of the Italian genius that inspired me "Dietro Aria".
